New Animations by Lilli Carre and Jo Dery

Hello there! This Saturday, I will be presenting a program of animated films at a new event called the Citizen Jane Film Festival, in Columbia, Missouri. There will be brand new animations by Lilli Carre and myself, and I will have both of our Little Otsu books on hand. Read more about the animation show here! Thanks, Jo

LIFE GARAGE SALE by Lart & Simon

Lart (Berliner) & Simon (Evans) have a show happening now in their current hometown Berlin. Under the name "Light Centre" they created, "An array of objects from the artist shared domestic environment, fastidiously recreated in the form of ghost-like black & white replicas, stand arranged as in a display from a post apocalyptic anthropology museum," according to their gallery, Maribel Lopez. This is reason enough to take a European vacation.

the Annual Vol. 4 is here!

The Little Otsu Annual Volume 4 is officially in the house and ready to ship! It turned out great with Dan Black's intricate drawings reproduced beautifully by 1984 Printing in Oakland. Even our newest feature, fold-out mini calendars, went off without a hitch. We're stoked and excited to get these into your planning hands!

Vol. 4 made its public debut this weekend at Flatstock in Seattle at the Landland booth. On top of doing a stellar job with this year's Annual, Dan has been busy making lots of amazing Landland posters. He stopped by yesterday before heading back to Minneapolis and we got to choose a few for our online shop (we'll be adding them soon). Here he is dealing to us out of his trunk...

can I get a stereo with that?

San Francisco Zine Fest

It's San Francisco Zine Fest time this weekend so make sure to take advantage of this awesome free event at Golden Gate Park! You might even win a copy of Nine Ways to Disappear or Quietly Sure in the raffle. And help them cover some of their costs right next door to the store at Amnesia on Saturday night, 9pm, at the Zine Fest benefit show.

pre-order the Annual Volume 4

Yes folks, it's that time of the year (can you believe it's August already?!) for our new Annual weekly planner and you can get a preview and pre-order at the online shop! Dan Black worked many days into the wee hours of the morning to draw this trip into subterranean realms. We've also taken a leap in format this year to incorporate fold-out mini calendar pages (we came up with the idea in a brainstorming session with Lart last year and are excited to be able to turn it into reality). It's currently being printed by our friends over at 1984, but here's a mock-up of what the real deal will look like.

So long, farewell...

With a heavy heart we have come to Kirk's last day with us as the manager of our SF store. He's headed off to the opposite end of the country and we're very sad to see him go, but glad that he'll be having new adventures. He's left an indelible mark (literally and figuratively) and we couldn't have made the move to Portland without knowing we'd be leaving our store in his capable hands. We can't thank him enough for all his hard work and dedication. It's been a real pleasure to work with him and he will be truly missed. But San Francisco's loss will be New Haven's gain, so get in touch if you have fun Connecticut tips or a job for our soon-to-be transplant.

Good luck Kirk and happy trails!
