new 2009 calendars!

We just got in our new 2009 calendars by Jennie Smith and Lart C. Berliner and they turned out great! Not that we didn't think they were going to be good, but you never know how good it's going to be until you're holding it in your hands. Cindy and her dad did a great job with the printing! Both are fold-out calendars that have posters on the other side so they never expire. Jennie's theme this year is treehouses and Lart's is railways (with help from Simon Evans). We know 2008 is barely half over and no one wants to think about the new year already, but it will be upon us sooner than we know so it's never to soon to be prepared!

the mess of my desk

I bought a button maker and have been making one-of-a-kinds and a few small repeating designs. The end product of which is available at the store in SF.

Fun with paper and blades...I like making stencils, and some times just flyers. Also in this picture was my proposal for metric time, which might need some refining.

The Square

Two days were spent this week with ladders, pencils, rulers, tape and rollers to make this big red square on our north wall. It sure was fun! Knees were banged, coffee was drank, sweat was swat (?), some tunes were cranked and then there it was. I caught the last bus home.

fun fests in SF

This year's Zine Fest (July 19th-20th) has moved to a bigger venue in Golden Gate Park and promises to be a great gathering of comix and craft. Be sure to stop by and say hi to Joey Sayers & Josh Frankel at their Space Pancake table, our printer 1984 Printing, and our pal Laurie of Motormouthpress.

Coming up this weekend (July 12th-13th) is the first San Francisco version of the popular Renegade Craft Fair at Fort Mason. Some of the vendors we sell at the store will be there including Chikabird, Blissful, and Sweetie Pie Press. Go meet these lovely ladies in person.

And not to be forgotten, it's the 12th Annual Mission Creek Music Fetival (July 16th-20th), organized by longtime customer Jeff Ray. That's plenty of stuff to keep you busy this week!

RE: New Yorkers

I thought I should post this. I'm very excited about being in this huge group show with some of my favorite artists! If you live in New York or are visiting soon, please do try and stop by Giant Robot. It should be a pretty awesome show.
